The best $12 million investment

This question poses some serious thought and opinions. Today I’m going to share with you my personal opinion on what the best car ever made is, and I accept if not everyone agrees with me. Whenever this question is posed, it normally receives a variety of different answers along with many different reasons. Every person has their own perception of what makes a car great and that’s the beauty of this question because there is no right or wrong answer.

The criteria I follow when thinking of what makes a car great is speed, sound, looks, emotion but most importantly, how it changed the automotive industry. Now there are many cars which have one if not a few of these criteria, but very few have all of the above. You may ask, ‘what do you mean by change the automotive industry?’. Well, by saying this, I mean a car that redefined what people thought was possible, a car that totally left the world in awe of its mere existence and pushed the automotive boundaries of performance.

In my personal opinion, the best car ever made was the McLaren F1. This car showed everyone what could be done and shamed its rivals in every sense, even practicality – with three seats instead of the traditional two. The F1 had mind-boggling acceleration, dazzling top speed and an out-the-box design. The synergy between the McLaren body and 6.2L BMW V12 powertrain was a dream recipe. This car was able to put out a staggering 620bhp which, for the 90s, was unheard of. A top speed of over 240mph and 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds made the F1 by far the quickest production car ever made at the time and has only been surpassed by a handful of some truly special cars nearly a decade later.

The McLaren F1 to this day remains one of the all-time greats in automotive history. For me, this car stands out the most because it was so far ahead of its time and made everyone step back for a minute and take in what it was truly capable of. The sheer genius behind this car was that no one could compare the performance of a Ferrari, Lamborghini or any supercar for that matter because the F1 was so damn fast. The McLaren F1 is now worth a staggering $12 million, which makes it one of the most sought-after cars on the market today.

Lastly, feel free to comment below, telling us what you think was the best car ever made and why. We’d really love to know!

  1. The original Citroen 2CV Cheap to build. Cheap to run. Easy to repair body panels. Superb suspension. A People’s Car better than the VW Beetle or the Morris Minor.
